Our Food Philosophy

A little bit about our food philosophy

Welcome to the Harbourside Restaurant at the Greenbank Hotel. We pride ourselves on supporting local suppliers and making the most of seasonal, locally sourced produce. Our Head Chef Fiona Were is very particular about using sustainable and ethical ingredients. We only use free range poultry and fish caught from sustainable resources.

Our menus change on a daily basis. At this time of year, we often feature favourites such as local Crab, Megrim Sole, Wild line caught Sea Bass, line caught Mackerel, as well as Chargrilled Cornish Sirloin Steak, Duck and Lamb.

Some of our favourite suppliers include:

The Cornish Duck Company – where Roger and Tanya produce some of the best free range duck, that you are ever likely to taste, on their farm near Truro.

Primrose Herd – Sally and Bill farm slow maturing old English rare breeds such as Gloucester Old Spot and Large Blacks. Their pigs are free to roam, weather permitting, at their farm near St Day.

RJ Trevarthen, supplies most of the Cornish Beef, Lamb and also free range Chicken, from their site at Roskrow, near Penryn.
 
Matthew Stevens and Son, in St Ives, provide us with our freshly landed fish and shellfish

Westcountry Fruit Sales, Hendys Fruit & Veg deliver fresh, local fruit and vegetables to our door on a daily basis, produced by local growers, including organic.

Roddas – all of our Milk and Cream comes direct from Roddas Creamery at Scorrier. A family run business, they are experts in producing the finest Clotted Cream in the County

Hanson Fine Foods – Thomas Hanson sources the finest local and British Cheeses. His knowledge is key, to selecting the perfect cheese board

Atlantis Fine Foods, based in Penryn, carefully smoke Kippers and Haddock which feature on our breakfast menu. But this is not all, for they happily smoke all sorts of items on request,.

Cornubia – provide us with our free range Eggs, from their free range chickens near Mabe

Celtic Fish and Game, in St Ives, are specialists in gourmet items as well as game, when it is in season.

Treleavens Luxury Ice Cream – Andrew Treleaven crafts delicious Ice Creams and Sorbets in Looe, that are famous for their smooth, creamy texture and distinctive flavours

Chaffins, in Redruth, look after most of our dry goods.
