Christmas breaks in Cornwall 2019

Add some magic with our coastal Cornish Christmas…

Depending on the length of your Christmas break, you’ll either arrive on 22nd or 23rd December. Welcome aboard! As a festive treat after you’ve checked in, we’ll be warming up the mulled wine and serving mince pies in the Water’s Edge bar.

Dinner will be served each night in our two AA rosette-awarded Water’s Edge restaurant. Our Executive Chef Nick, Head Chef Bobby and their kitchen team proudly fly the Cornish flag, with their collective hard work making everything that leaves our kitchen the very best. Expect festive favourites with imaginative twists, all lovingly created using the freshest local ingredients.

On 22nd December from 8pm, we’ll be hosting our special festive pub quiz in The Working Boat. Will you be our winners?

On the evening of 23rd December, we’ll be providing complimentary canapes and as always our traditional brass band will commence the revelries in the Water’s Edge bar (song sheets provided for all).

Bracing jaunt or lazy lie-in? After a hearty breakfast, we thoroughly recommend wandering into town to watch the Cornish Christmas Harmony Choir’s 120th annual performance from 10.30am. And if you’re still on the hunt for presents, Falmouth is perfect for completing any last minute shopping.

At 3pm, get into the Christmas spirit with a good old fashioned sing-a-long with local choir group The Angels. This yearly tradition in The Working Boat is one not to miss!

Upstairs in the Water’s Edge bar, our drinks specialist Yohann will demonstrate how to create the ultimate cocktail. Sink a few tipples before dinner in the restaurant.

Today is all about indulgence. Find your stocking hung from your bedroom door, then spend a mellow morning as you please after a leisurely breakfast paired with buck’s fizz.

Early riser? Don’t miss the yearly Christmas Day swim at Gyllyngvase beach, from 10am. It’s quite the spectacle – even if you don’t fancy braving it yourself!

For lunch, we’ve got it covered. We’ll butter roast the turkey, poach the sole, flambé the Christmas pudding. You’ll just need to eat, drink in the view, and be merry.

In the evening, crack our Christmas puzzle or snuggle up with a tipple before our buffet with all the trimmings. Head to bed feeling content with a full belly and plenty of festive cheer.

Wake late, take your time at breakfast, then jump aboard our coach journey to The Alverton – our sister hotel in Truro. Here, the skilled chefs will prepare a Cornish buffet lunch before Near-ta Theatre’s cult festive comedy.

“Christmas. Time.” will be performed in the stunning Great Hall for our guests. Back for its eleventh consecutive year, join prison inmates Charlie and Toby on a fantastical adventure full of songs, snowmen and lots of laughs.

Back at The Greenbank, kick back at dinner and find a selection of games in our bar. Let’s get cosy and competitive.

How do you like your eggs in the morning? After diving into breakfast one last time, it’s time to check out and head home, with our warmest wishes for 2020.
