Half term fun in Falmouth for the family
Somehow it’s already February and the children are off school once more – and as we all know, keeping them occupied may just be the key to saving your sanity. Fortunately, Cornwall does half term very well indeed – and this year is shaping up to be no exception, with a whole host of special events lined up that promise to keep all of you happy…
So, without further ado, here are our top picks:
STARSTRUCK AT THE NATIONAL MARITIME MUSEUM
From the 13-15 February, the NMMC will play host to Cornwall’s only planetarium, allowing visitors to take a sneaky peak inside the International Space Station via a virtual tour. There’s also a thrilling flight through the rings of Saturn to be enjoyed and a family constellation challenge running through the museum. Tickets cost £3.50 in addition to museum entry and can be booked on 01326 214546.
MUDFEST AT THE CORNISH SEAL SANCTUARY
Okay so maybe this one isn’t actually in Falmouth, but it’s less than 10 miles away and trust us when you see how cute the seal pups are, it’s worth the journey. In addition to all the usual feeds and talks, throughout this half term there will be Piskie Puddle Trails, Welly Wanging and Woodland Crafts for kids to get involved in. Discounts for tickets bought online.
PIRATES AHOY AT PENDENNIS CASTLE
Perched on Falmouth Point, the majestic Pendennis Castle has been defending Cornwall against invasion since Tudor times. Featuring Tales of the High Seas, a Cutlass Class and Musket Drills, Pirates Ahoy is your chance to find out more about Falmouth’s buccaneering past – just try not to end up walking the plank, matey!
BEES AND BUGS AT TREBAH GARDENS
Buzz along to the beautiful Trebah Gardens, just a short drive from The Greenbank, and take part in the Whose Knees Are These Trail. Children can answer the clues to find out some fascinating facts about our honey-harvesting friends and create their own bug or buzzer to take home. Workshops are on Tuesday 16th and Thursday 18th February and cost £3 in addition to normal entry fees.
CHILDREN’S AFTERNOON TEA
For this one, you don’t even need to leave the hotel. Our Children’s Afternoon Tea acts as the perfect refuel after a morning running around on the beach, and is sure to delight by making your little one feel quite the Lord or Lady. And even better, there’s a grown-up version for you to indulge in too!
We have a light and spacious Classic Family Room, complete with bunk beds for up to two little explorers and a superb view. Book any family, twin or triple room between 15th and 21st February and children can stay for free when sharing the room with their parent/s. Just call us on 01326 312440 for more info or to book.
