Our favourite autumn walks in Cornwall

A lot of us at The Greenbank are fond of this season when it comes to autumn walks in Cornwall. And with the vast variety of places to visit to see the change of colours, it’s no wonder. Cornwall is awash with amber tones when October hits, be it in the sand dunes and local gardens, to the woodlands and historic landmarks, make sure you wrap up warm and make Cornwall your port of call for the best five places to walk this autumn.

Trelissick

Trelissick’s woodlands are full to the brim when it comes to autumnal colours. As you see the leaves turning, eventually falling to the ground, you’ll find lots of places to explore in this parkland. Enjoy glimpses of the River Fal as you walk through the golden trees.

Glendurgan

Glendurgan really does come to life with colour in the autumn months. With the stunning sea views and winding paths down to the beach, this is an ideal autumn garden. With activities for all the family to enjoy, including maze runs, the giant’s stride, as well as the wild valley pathways leading towards the Helford river, there’s something for everyone.

Kennall vale

Possibly one of the most picturesque woodlands with rich undergrowth and open glades in Cornwall, Kennall Vale also contains a water-filled quarry. Once a gunpowder factory, it was closed in the 1900’s and is now a great reserve for wildlife.

Godolphin Hill

Looking for the best views over west Cornwall? A ramble up to the top of Godolphin Hill will be sure to offer just that! On a crisp clear day, you can even see St Michael’s Mount and St Ives bay.

Lizard point

There’s nothing quite dramatic than the views of the Atlantic ocean on this walk along the Lizard Point. As the most southerly place in Britain, look out for Cornish choughs on the way. The birds returned to Cornwall in 2001 after an absence of 30 years and have been residents ever since.
