Packet ships to pocket treasure: Free Greenbank Afternoon Tea

Quietly nestled away in the greenery and gorgeousness of Cornwall it would be hard to believe that Falmouth (and The Greenbank in particular) once played a vital part in an expanding British Empire’s information trade.

Indeed, Chinese whispers of home and foreign affairs were put to rest as Royal Mail packet ships and their captains came to and fro across the Falmouth Estuary for nearly 200 years – our port was second only to London in knowing what was hot off the press!

As many a packet ship captain stayed at The Greenbank during this time (and we proudly have names displayed on our hotel bedroom doors), we’re celebrating our stamps-and-sailors history by sending out a voucher for a sumptuous complimentary Greenbank Afternoon Tea in a beautiful antique-style envelope. All anyone has to do is tell us why they deserve it the most!

Simply tell us who you nominate to win this fantastic prize and why, via Facebook or Twitter and a scone-shaped invite could be winging its way to you very soon!*

*Winner will be announced on our Facebook & Twitter pages on 16th April 2015.
