With Christmas just around the corner, we can feel the festive charm of Cornwall coming into its own. With festivals, fairs and fireworks, Cornwall has a lot to offer this month to get you into that festive spirit. So dive into the local excitement and get ready to enjoy…

5th and 19th NOVEMBER: PUB QUIZ NIGHT, THE WORKING BOAT

Where: underneath the hotel

The perfect Sunday night in. Join us for our bi-monthly Working Boat pub quiz and enjoy free entry and plenty of prizes up for grabs, including a £30 bar tab for our winning team. Our menu is avilable until late and you can expect a fun, lively atmosphere…so come sink a few with us!

10TH – 19TH  NOVEMBER: CORNISH FILM FESTIVAL, THE POLY, FALMOUTH

Where: 10 minute walk from The Greenbank

The Cornish Film Festival is a huge showcase of the best local and international talents. The Poly will be screening local shorts and renowned classics for three days, in Falmouth’s quaint and inviting theatre. The festival winners will then be shown in a larger cinema, in the young and vibrant town of Newquay, and is not one to be missed.

15TH – 16TH NOVEMBER: CORNWALL MACMILLAN CHRISTMAS FAIR, EDEN PROJECT

Where: 50 minute drive from the hotel

Cornwall’s biggest and brightest Christmas Fair is back, raising vital funds for Cornwall’s cancer patients. The Eden Project will play host to this wonderful fair, bringing with it a vast range of stalls from our county and beyond. You’ll be spoilt for choice with local food and drink produce, as well as an abundance of gifts, stocking fillers, clothing and jewellery. Tickets are £15, to include admission to Eden, a light lunch and drink. Also, Eden’s ice rink will be open, if you’re looking to extend the festivities.

22ND NOVEMBER: TRURO CITY OF LIGHTS

Where: 20 minute drive from The Greenbank

Nothing heralds the beginning of the festive season quite like this magical midwinter lantern festival. The event is a vividly creative celebration incorporating art, music, dance and, of course, light. Admire giant handmade lanterns created by the community as they are carefully carried through the streets in a dazzling procession, then warm up with a hot toddy from one of Truro’s many shops or cafes.

24TH – 26TH NOVEMBER: FOWEY CHRISTMAS MARKET

Where: 1 hour drive from The Greenbank

One of Cornwall’s most well-known Christmas events is the Fowey Christmas Market. With a rich history of providing 10,000 visitors with quality locally produced food and drink, sit back and relax as you take in the sights and explore the festive gift stalls. You can look forward to finding an extensive collection of handmade, locally produced gifts, arts and craft as well as some of the regions finest locally produced food and beverages.

30TH NOVEMBER: FALMOUTH CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON

Where: right on our doorstep

Join in the Christmas celebrations as Falmouth school children parade through the town to The Moor for the annual lights switch on. The children’s parade starts at Events Square at approximately 5.30pm and finishes on The Moor, where the schools perform Christmas songs and carols before the lights are switched on at 7pm. Lots of food, drink and festive fun to be had!
